¹⁰ He defiled Topheth,^(A) which is in Ben Hinnom Valley,^(B) so that no one could sacrifice his son or daughter in the fire^[a](C) to Molech.^(D)

³ He burned incense in Ben Hinnom Valley^(A) and burned his children in^[a](B) the fire, imitating the detestable practices of the nations the Lord had dispossessed before the Israelites.^(C)

³¹ They have built the high places of Topheth^[a](A) in Ben Hinnom Valley^[b](B) in order to burn their sons and daughters in the fire,^(C) a thing I did not command; I never entertained the thought.

³² ‘Therefore, look, the days are coming’^(D) – the Lord’s declaration – ‘when this place will no longer be called Topheth and Ben Hinnom Valley, but Slaughter Valley.^(E) Topheth will become a cemetery,^[c] because there will be no other burial place.
