²² David answered, ‘Sons of Zeruiah, do we agree on anything?^(A) Have you become my adversary today? Should any man be killed in Israel today? Am I not aware that today I’m king over Israel? ’

⁵ For those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on the things of the flesh,^(A) but those who live according to the Spirit have their minds set on the things of the Spirit.

⁷ The mindset of the flesh is hostile^(A) to God because it does not submit to God’s law. Indeed, it is unable to do so.

Christ’s Humility and Exaltation

⁵ Adopt the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus,

¹⁹ Their end is destruction; their god is their stomach; their glory^(A) is in their shame; and they are focused on earthly things.

² Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.^(A)
