¹⁴ He placed garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites were subject to David.^(A) The Lord made David victorious wherever he went.^(B)

⁹ So the king of Israel, the king of Judah, and the king of Edom^(A) set out. After they had travelled their indirect route for seven days, they had no water for the army or the animals with them.
