Herod imprisons Peter
12 About that time King Herod began to harass some who belonged to the church. 2 He had James, John’s brother, killed with a sword. 3 When he saw that this pleased the Jews, he arrested Peter as well. This happened during the Festival of Unleavened Bread. 4 He put Peter in prison, handing him over to four squads of soldiers, sixteen in all, who guarded him. He planned to charge him publicly after the Passover. 5 While Peter was held in prison, the church offered earnest prayer to God for him.
6 The night before Herod was going to bring Peter’s case forward, Peter was asleep between two soldiers and bound with two chains, with soldiers guarding the prison entrance. 7 Suddenly an angel from the Lord appeared and a light shone in the prison cell. After nudging Peter on his side to awaken him, the angel raised him up and said, “Quick! Get up!” The chains fell from his wrists. 8 The angel continued, “Get dressed. Put on your sandals.” Peter did as he was told. The angel said, “Put on your coat and follow me.” 9 Following the angel, Peter left the prison. However, he didn’t realize the angel had actually done all this. He thought he was seeing a vision. 10 They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself. After leaving the prison, they proceeded the length of one street, when abruptly the angel was gone.
11 At that, Peter came to his senses and remarked, “Now I’m certain that the Lord sent his angel and rescued me from Herod and from everything the Jewish people expected.” 12 Realizing this, he made his way to Mary’s house. (Mary was John’s mother; he was also known as Mark.) Many believers had gathered there and were praying. 13 When Peter knocked at the outer gate, a female servant named Rhoda went to answer. 14 She was so overcome with joy when she recognized Peter’s voice that she didn’t open the gate. Instead, she ran back in and announced that Peter was standing at the gate.
15 “You’ve lost your mind!” they responded. She stuck by her story with such determination that they began to say, “It must be his guardian angel.” 16 Meanwhile, Peter remained outside, knocking at the gate. They finally opened the gate and saw him there, and they were astounded.
17 He gestured with his hand to quiet them down, then recounted how the Lord led him out of prison. He said, “Tell this to James and the brothers and sisters.” Then he left for another place.
18 The next morning the soldiers were flustered about what had happened to Peter. 19 Herod called for a thorough search. When Peter didn’t turn up, Herod interrogated the guards and had them executed. Afterward, Herod left Judea in order to spend some time in Caesarea.
20 Herod had been furious with the people of Tyre and Sidon for some time. They made a pact to approach him together, since their region depended on the king’s realm for its food supply. They persuaded Blastus, the king’s personal attendant, to join their cause, then appealed for an end to hostilities. 21 On the scheduled day Herod dressed himself in royal attire, seated himself on the throne, and gave a speech to the people. 22 Those assembled kept shouting, over and over, “This is a god’s voice, not the voice of a mere human!” 23 Immediately an angel from the Lord struck Herod down, because he didn’t give the honor to God. He was eaten by worms and died.
24 God’s word continued to grow and increase. 25 Barnabas and Saul returned to Antioch from Jerusalem[a] after completing their mission, bringing with them John, who was also known as Mark.

पेतरॉस का बन्दी बनाया जाना तथा उनकी अद्भुत छुटकारा
12 उसी समय राजा हेरोदेस ने कलीसिया के कुछ लोगों को सताने के उद्धेश्य से बन्दी बना लिया 2 और तलवार से योहन के भाई याक़ोब की हत्या करवा दी. 3 जब उसने यह देखा कि उसके ऐसा करने से यहूदी प्रसन्न होते हैं, उसने पेतरॉस को भी बन्दी बनाने का निश्चय किया. यह अख़मीरी रोटी के पर्व का अवसर था. 4 पेतरॉस को बन्दी बना कर उसने उन पर चार-चार सैनिकों के चार दलों का पहरा लगा दिया कि फ़सह पर्व समाप्त हो जाने पर वह उन पर मुकद्दमा चलाए.
5 पेतरॉस को कारागार में रखा गया किन्तु कलीसिया उनके लिए एक मन से प्रार्थना कर रही थी.
6 उन पर मुकद्दमा चलाए जाने से एक रात पहले पेतरॉस दो सैनिकों के मध्य बेड़ियों से बँधे सोए हुए थे. 7 प्रभु का एक स्वर्गदूत एकाएक वहाँ प्रकट हुआ और वह कमरा ज्योति से भर गया. स्वर्गदूत ने पेतरॉस को थपथपा कर जगाया और कहा, “जल्दी उठिए!” तत्काल ही पेतरॉस की हथकड़ियाँ गिर पड़ीं.
8 स्वर्गदूत ने पेतरॉस से कहा, “वस्त्र और जूतियाँ पहन लीजिए” पेतरॉस ने ऐसा ही किया. तब स्वर्गदूत ने उन्हें आज्ञा दी, “अब ऊपरी कपड़ा ओढ़ कर मेरे पीछे-पीछे आ जाइए.” 9 पेतरॉस उसके पीछे कारागार से बाहर आ गए किन्तु वह यह समझ नहीं पा रहे थे कि जो कुछ स्वर्गदूत द्वारा किया जा रहा था, वह सच्चाई थी या सिर्फ़ सपना. 10 जब वे पहिले और दूसरे पहरे को पार करके उस लोहे के दरवाज़े पर पहुँचे, जो नगर में खुलता है, वह द्वार अपने आप खुल गया और वे बाहर निकल गए. जब वे गली पार कर चुके तो अचानक स्वर्गदूत उन्हें छोड़ कर चला गया.
11 तब पेतरॉस की सुधबुध लौटी और वह कह उठे, “अब मुझे सच्चाई का अहसास हो रहा है कि प्रभु ने ही अपने स्वर्गदूत को भेजकर मुझे हेरोदेस से और यहूदी लोगों की सारी उम्मीदों से छुड़ा लिया है.”
12 यह जानकर वह योहन अर्थात् मारकास की माता मरियम के घर पहुँचे, जहाँ अनेक शिष्य इकट्ठा होकर प्रार्थना कर रहे थे. 13 उनके खटखटाने पर रोदा नामक दासी द्वार पर आई. 14 पेतरॉस का शब्द पहचान कर, आनन्द में द्वार खोले बिना ही उसने अंदर जाकर बताया कि पेतरॉस बाहर द्वार पर खड़े हैं.
15 वे उससे कहने लगे, “तेरी तो मति मारी गई है!” किन्तु जब वह अपनी बात पर अटल रही तो वे कहने लगे, “वह पेतरॉस का स्वर्गदूत होगा.”
16 उधर पेतरॉस द्वार खटखटाते रहे. आखिरकार जब उन्होंने द्वार खोला, वे पेतरॉस को देखकर हक्का-बक्का रह गए. 17 पेतरॉस ने हाथ से शान्त रहने का संकेत देते हुए उन्हें बताया कि प्रभु ने किस प्रकार उन्हें कारागार से बाहर निकाला. पेतरॉस ने उनसे कहा कि वे याक़ोब और अन्य शिष्यों को इस विषय में बता दें. तब वह स्वयं दूसरी जगह चले गए.
18 अगले दिन सुबह सैनिकों में बड़ी खलबली मच गई कि पेतरॉस का क्या हुआ? 19 हेरोदेस ने उनकी बहुत खोज करवाई और उन्हें कहीं भी न पा कर उसने पहरेदारों की जांच की और उन सबके लिए मृत्युदण्ड का आदेश दे दिया और स्वयं कुछ समय के लिए यहूदिया प्रदेश से कयसरिया नगर चला गया.
सतानेवाले की मृत्यु
20 हेरोदेस त्सोर और त्सीदोनवासियों से बहुत नाराज़ था. ये लोग राजा के घर की देखभाल करने वाले ब्लास्तॉस की सहानुभूति प्राप्त कर एकमत हो कर मेल-मिलाप का प्रस्ताव लेकर राजा के पास आए थे क्योंकि अनाज की पूर्ति के लिए वे राजा के क्षेत्र पर ही निर्भर थे. 21 हेरोदेस ने नियत दिन अपने राजसी वस्त्र धारण कर सिंहासन पर विराजमान हो प्रजा को सम्बोधित करना प्रारम्भ किया. 22 भीड़ चिल्लाती रही, “यह मानव का नहीं, देवता का शब्द है.” 23 उसी क्षण एक स्वर्गदूत ने हेरोदेस पर वार किया क्योंकि उसने परमेश्वर को महिमा नहीं दी थी. उसके शरीर में कीड़े पड़ गए और उसकी मृत्यु हो गई.
24 प्रभु का वचन बढ़ता और फैलता चला गया.
25 बारनबास और शाऊल येरूशालेम में अपनी सेवा समाप्त कर वहाँ से लौट गए. उन्होंने योहन को, जो मारकास नाम से भी प्रसिद्ध हैं, अपने साथ ले लिया था.

希律王的暴行
12 那時，希律王下手殘害教會的一些人， 2 殺了約翰的哥哥雅各。 3 他見這樣做能取悅猶太人，便又在除酵節期間拘捕了彼得， 4 把他關在監裡，由四班衛兵，每班四人輪流看守，想等逾越節[a]過後當眾懲辦他。 5 彼得被囚期間，教會都迫切地為他向上帝禱告。
彼得神奇出獄
6 在被希律提審前一夜，彼得被兩條鐵鏈鎖著睡在兩個衛兵中間，門外警衛森嚴。 7 忽然，有一位主的天使站在彼得身旁，監牢內一片光明，天使拍他的肋旁，把他叫醒，說：「趕快起來！」鐵鏈就從他手上脫落下來。 8 天使對他說：「束上腰帶，穿好鞋子。」彼得一一照辦。天使又說：「披上外衣，跟我來！」 9 他跟著天使走出牢房，不知道這一切都是真的，還以為自己看到了異象。 10 他們一路穿過第一道和第二道守衛，來到通往城裡的鐵門，那門竟自動打開了。他們就出來，走過一條街之後，天使便離開了彼得。
11 彼得這才如夢初醒，說：「現在我確定，主派了天使來救我脫離希律的魔掌，不讓猶太人的期望得逞。」 12 他清醒後，便到約翰·馬可的母親瑪麗亞家，很多人正聚集在那裡禱告。
13 彼得在外面敲門，有一個叫羅大的婢女出來應門。 14 她聽出是彼得的聲音，喜出望外，竟然沒有開門就跑進去告訴大家：「彼得在門外！」 15 他們說：「你一定瘋了。」她堅持說：「是真的！」他們就說：「是他的天使吧！」
16 彼得不住地敲門。他們開門看見他，都大吃一驚！ 17 彼得擺手示意他們安靜，然後把主怎樣領他出獄的經過告訴大家，又說：「把這事告訴雅各和其他弟兄姊妹。」交待完了，他便離開那裡，往其他地方去了。
18 天亮後，監獄的守衛發現彼得不見了，頓時一片騷動。 19 希律派人四處搜捕，一無所獲，於是親自審問看守彼得的衛兵，下令處決他們。後來希律離開猶太，下到凱撒利亞，並住在那裡。
希律的下場
20 希律對泰爾和西頓的人非常惱火。於是，他們聯合起來去見他，先取得宮廷總管伯拉斯都的支持，然後向他求和，因為他們兩地需要從他的轄區獲得糧食。
21 到了約定的日子，希律穿上王袍，坐在寶座上向眾人致詞。 22 致詞完畢，眾人齊聲高呼：「這是神明在說話，不是凡人在說話！」 23 希律沒有把榮耀歸給上帝，主的天使立刻懲罰他，他當場被蟲子咬死了。
24 上帝的道日見興旺，越傳越廣。
25 巴拿巴和掃羅把款項送到以後，就帶著約翰·馬可從耶路撒冷回去。
