³ “Ananias,” Peter asked, “why has Satan filled your heart^(A) to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the proceeds of the land? ⁴ Wasn’t it yours while you possessed it? And after it was sold, wasn’t it at your disposal? Why is it that you planned this thing in your heart? You have not lied to people but to God.”

¹⁰ Now then, why are you testing God by putting a yoke on the disciples’ necks^(A) that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear?

⁹ Let us not test Christ as some of them did^[a] and were destroyed by snakes.^(A)
