³ Saul,^(A) however, was ravaging the church. He would enter house after house, drag off men and women, and put them in prison.^(B)

¹³ ‘Lord,’ Ananias answered, ‘I have heard from many people about this man, how much harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem.^{(A) 14} And he has authority here from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.’^(B)

¹³ For you have heard about my former way of life^(A) in Judaism:^(B) I intensely persecuted^(C) God’s church and tried to destroy it.

²³ They just kept hearing, ‘He who formerly persecuted^(A) us now preaches the faith^(B) he once tried to destroy.’
