¹⁶ So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den.^(A) The king said to Daniel, ‘May your God, whom you continually serve,^(B) rescue you! ’

⁹ The Lord said to Paul in a night vision, ‘Don’t be afraid, but keep on speaking and don’t be silent.

¹¹ The following night, the Lord stood by him and said, ‘Have courage! For as you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so it is necessary for you to testify in Rome.’^(A)

⁹ God is my witness,^(A) whom I serve with my spirit^(B) in telling the good news about his Son – that I constantly mention you,^(C)

¹⁷ But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that I might fully preach the word and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth.
