¹⁶ ‘Fathers are not to be put to death for their children, and children are not to be put to death for their fathers; each person will be put to death for his own sin.^(A)

¹⁸ If I say to the wicked person,^(A) “You will surely die,” but you do not warn him – you don’t speak out to warn him about his wicked way in order to save his life – that wicked person will die for his iniquity. Yet I will hold you responsible for his blood.

⁸ If I say to the wicked, “Wicked one, you will surely die,”^(A) but you do not speak out to warn him about his way, that wicked person will die for his iniquity, yet I will hold you responsible for his blood.

²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin.^(A) Now they have no excuse for their sin.

²³ For all have sinned^(A) and fall short of the^[a] glory of God;

²³ For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.^(A)
