¹⁶ The Lord said to Moses, ‘You are about to rest with your ancestors,^(A) and these people will soon prostitute themselves with the foreign gods^(B) of the land they are entering. They will abandon me^(C) and break the covenant^(D) I have made with them.

¹² When your time comes and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up after you your descendant, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.^(A)

¹⁰ Then David rested with his ancestors^(A) and was buried in the city of David.^(B)
