²⁴ During the morning watch, the Lord looked down at the Egyptian forces from the pillar of fire^(A) and cloud, and threw the Egyptian forces into confusion.

²⁷ ‘I will cause the people ahead of you to feel terror^[a] and will throw into confusion^(A) all the nations you come to. I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you in retreat.^[b]

²³ The Lord your God will give them over to you and throw them into great confusion until they are destroyed.
