¹⁵ When Pharaoh heard about this, he tried to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in the land of Midian,^(A) and sat down by a well.^(B)

²² She gave birth to a son whom he named Gershom,^[a] for he said, ‘I have been a resident foreigner^(A) in a foreign land.’

³ along with her two sons, one of whom was named Gershom^[a] (because Moses had said, ‘I have been a resident foreigner in a foreign land’)^{(A) 4} and the other Eliezer (because he had said, ‘The God of my father was my helper and rescued me from Pharaoh’s sword’).^[b]
