⁷ ‘When a man gives his neighbour valuables^[a] or goods to keep, but they are stolen from that person’s house, the thief, if caught, must repay double. ⁸ If the thief is not caught, the owner of the house must present himself to the judges^[b] to determine^[c] whether or not he has taken his neighbour’s property.^(A)

¹⁸ I will first repay them double for their iniquity^(A) and sin because they have polluted my land. They have filled my inheritance with the carcasses of their abhorrent and detestable idols.’
