²⁴ Do not bow in worship to their gods, and do not serve them. Do not imitate their practices. Instead, demolish them^[a] and smash their sacred pillars to pieces.^(A)

¹⁶ You must destroy all the peoples the Lord your God is delivering over to you and not look on them with pity. Do not worship their gods, for that will be a snare to you.

¹⁹ If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods to serve them and bow in worship to them, I testify against you today that you will certainly perish.^(A)

¹⁶ Be careful^(A) that you are not enticed to turn aside, serve, and bow in worship to other gods.^(B)

The Covenant Renewal

¹⁴ ‘Therefore, fear the Lord and worship him in sincerity and truth.^(A) Get rid of the gods your ancestors worshipped^(B) beyond the River Euphrates and in Egypt, and worship the Lord.
