³³ They must not remain in your land, or else they will make you sin against me. If you serve their gods, it will be a snare for you.’^(A)

¹³ know for certain that the Lord your God will not continue to drive these nations out before you. They will become a snare and a trap for you,^(A) a sharp stick^[a] for your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you disappear from this good land the Lord your God has given you.

²¹ ‘I’ll give her to him,’ Saul thought. ‘She’ll be a trap for him, and the hand of the Philistines will be against him.’^(A) So Saul said to David a second time, ‘You can now be my son-in-law.’^(B)

²⁶ And I find more bitter than death^(A) the woman who is a trap:^(B) her heart a net and her hands chains. The one who pleases God will escape her, but the sinner will be captured by her.
