¹² He answered, ‘I will certainly be with you,^(A) and this will be the sign to you that I am the one who sent you: when you bring the people out of Egypt, you will all worship^[a] God at this mountain.’

³⁴ This will be the sign that will come to you concerning your two sons Hophni and Phinehas:^(A) both of them will die on the same day.^(B)

³ He gave a sign^(A) that day. He said, ‘This is the sign that the Lord has spoken: “The altar will now be ripped apart, and the ashes that are on it will be poured out.” ’^(B)

¹⁴ Therefore, the Lord himself will give you^[a] a sign: See, the virgin will conceive,^[b] have a son, and name him Immanuel.^[c](A)

⁷ This is the sign to you^(A) from the Lord that he will do what he has promised:

²⁹ This will be a sign to you” – this is the Lord’s declaration – “that I will punish you in this place, so that you may know that my words of disaster concerning you will certainly come to pass.^(A)

¹² This will be the sign for you:^(A) You will find a baby wrapped tightly in cloth and lying in a manger.’
