¹⁰ ‘Once a year Aaron is to perform the atonement ceremony for the altar. Throughout your generations he is to perform the atonement ceremony for^[a] it once a year, with the blood of the sin offering for atonement on the horns.^(A) The altar is especially holy to the Lord.’

²⁹ ‘This is to be a permanent statute^(A) for you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month you are to practise self-denial^(B) and do no work,^(C) both the native and the foreigner^(D) who resides among you. ³⁰ Atonement will be made for you on this day to cleanse you,^(E) and you will be clean from all your sins before the Lord.

⁹ Then you are to sound a ram’s horn loudly in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month; you will sound it throughout your land on the Day of Atonement.^(A)

Offerings for the Day of Atonement

⁷ ‘You are to hold a sacred assembly on the tenth day of this seventh month and practise self-denial;^(A) do not do any work. ⁸ Present a burnt offering to the Lord, a pleasing aroma: one young bull, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old. All your animals are to be unblemished. ⁹ Their grain offering is to be of fine flour mixed with oil, six litres with the bull, four litres with the ram, ¹⁰ and two litres with each of the seven lambs. ¹¹ Offer one male goat for a sin offering. The regular burnt offering with its grain offering and drink offerings are in addition to the sin offering of atonement.
