The Altar

¹³ ‘These are the measurements of the altar^(A) in units of length (each unit being the standard length plus eight centimetres):^[a](B) The gutter is 53 centimetres^[b] deep and 53 centimetres wide, with a rim of 27 centimetres^[c] round its edge. This is the base^[d] of the altar. ¹⁴ The distance from the gutter on the ground to the lower ledge is 1.1 metres,^[e] and the width of the ledge is 53 centimetres. There are 2.1 metres^[f] from the small ledge to the large ledge, whose width is also 53 centimetres. ¹⁵ The altar hearth^[g] is 2.1 metres high, and four horns^(C) project upwards from the hearth.
