Job's Three Friends

¹¹ Now when Job's three ^(A)friends heard of all this evil that had come upon him, they came each from his own place, Eliphaz ^(B)the Temanite, Bildad ^(C)the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They made an appointment together to come to ^(D)show him sympathy and comfort him.

Eliphaz Speaks: The Innocent Prosper

4 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said:

22 Then ^(A)Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said:

The Lord Rebukes Job's Friends

⁷ After the Lord had spoken these words to Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz ^(A)the Temanite: “My anger burns against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.

^9 (A)So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did what the Lord had told them, and the Lord accepted Job's prayer.

²⁰ Therefore hear the plan that the Lord has made against ^(A)Edom and the purposes that he has formed against the inhabitants of ^(B)Teman: ^(C)Even the little ones of the flock shall be dragged away. Surely their fold shall be appalled at their fate.
