¹⁸It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
but you will eat the grain^[a] of the field.

Genesis 3:18 tn The Hebrew term עֵשֶׂב (ʿesev), when referring to human food, excludes grass (eaten by cattle) and woody plants like vines.

¹⁸It will produce thorns and thistles^(A) for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.^(B)

¹⁸Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

¹⁸Both thorns and thistles it shall ^[a]bring forth for you,
And ^(A)you shall eat the herb of the field.
