¹³ You said to yourself,
‘I will ascend to the heavens;^(A)
I will set up my throne
above the stars of God.^(B)
I will sit on the mount of the gods’ assembly,
in the remotest parts of the North.^[a](C)
14 I will ascend above the highest clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High.’

³ Your arrogant heart has deceived you,^(A)
you who live in clefts of the rock^[a],^[b],^(B)
in your home on the heights,
who say to yourself,
‘Who can bring me down to the ground? ’^(C)
4 Though you seem to soar^[c] like an eagle^(D)
and make your nest among the stars,^(E)
even from there I will bring you down.
This is the Lord’s declaration.
