¹³ Then the Lord said to Abram,^(A) ‘Know this for certain: your offspring will be resident foreigners^(B) for four hundred years^(C) in a land that does not belong to them and will be enslaved and oppressed.^{[a] 14} However, I will judge the nation they serve,^(D) and afterwards they will go out with many possessions.^(E)

¹² He answered, ‘I will certainly be with you,^(A) and this will be the sign to you that I am the one who sent you: when you bring the people out of Egypt, you will all worship^[a] God at this mountain.’
