⁷ Jacob’s sons returned from the field when they heard about the incident. They were deeply grieved and very angry, for Shechem had committed an outrage against Israel by raping Jacob’s daughter,^(A) and such a thing should not be done.

²¹ they will bring the woman to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city will stone her to death. For she has committed an outrage in Israel by being promiscuous while living in her father’s house. You must purge the evil from you.

²³ The owner of the house went out and said to them, ‘Please don’t do this evil, my brothers. After all, this man has come into my house. Don’t commit this horrible outrage.^{(A) 24} Here, let me bring out my virgin daughter^(B) and the man’s concubine now. Abuse them^(C) and do whatever you want to them. But don’t commit this outrageous thing against this man.’

⁶ Then I took my concubine and cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout Israel’s territory, because they have committed a wicked outrage in^(A) Israel.
