¹¹ His brothers were jealous of him,^(A) but his father kept the matter in mind.^(B)

²⁸ When Midianite^(A) traders passed by, his brothers pulled Joseph out of the pit and sold him for twenty pieces of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took Joseph to Egypt.^(B)

² The Lord was with Joseph,^(A) and he became a successful man, serving^[a] in the household of his Egyptian master.

²¹ But the Lord was with Joseph and extended kindness to him.^(A) He granted him favour with the prison warden.^(B)

⁴ Then Joseph said to his brothers, ‘Please, come near me,’ and they came near. ‘I am Joseph, your brother,’ he said, ‘the one you sold into Egypt.^(A)
