⁶ He left all that he owned under Joseph’s authority;^[a] he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate.

Now Joseph was well-built and handsome.^(A)

¹² So Jesse sent for him. He had beautiful eyes and a healthy,^[a] handsome appearance.^(A)

Then the Lord said, ‘Anoint him, for he is the one.’^(B)

¹⁸ One of the young men answered, ‘I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the lyre. He is also a valiant man,^(A) a warrior, eloquent, handsome, and the Lord is with him.’^(B)
