⁴ He said to me, “I will make you fruitful and numerous; I will make many nations come from you, and I will give this land as a permanent possession^(A) to your future descendants.”^(B)

⁵ He didn’t give him an inheritance in it – not even a foot of ground – but he promised to give it to him as a possession, and to his descendants after him,^(A) even though he was childless.
