⁸ They feed on the sin^[a] of my people;^(A)
they have an appetite for their iniquity.^(B)

⁵ Israel’s arrogance testifies against them.^[a](A)
Both Israel and Ephraim stumble
because of their iniquity;^(B)
even Judah will stumble with them.^(C)

⁷ The days of punishment have come;^(A)
the days of retribution have come.^(B)
Let Israel recognize it!
The prophet is a fool,^(C)
and the inspired man is insane,^(D)
because of the magnitude
of your iniquity and hostility.^(E)
