²⁰ But when his heart was exalted and his spirit became arrogant,^(A) he was deposed from his royal throne and his glory was taken from him.^(B)

¹¹ It acted arrogantly^(A) even against the Prince of the heavenly army;^(B) it revoked his regular sacrifice^(C) and overthrew the place of his sanctuary.

⁴ He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god^(A) or object of worship,^(B) so that he sits^[a] in God’s temple, proclaiming that he himself is God.
