¹² Do not^[a] gloat over your brother^(A)
in the day of his calamity;
do not rejoice over the people of Judah^(B)
in the day of their destruction;
do not boastfully mock^[b],^(C)
in the day of distress.^(D)

¹⁴ Do not stand at the crossroads^[a],^(A)
to cut off their fugitives,
and do not hand over their survivors
in the day of distress.

⁷ The Lord is good,
a stronghold in a day of distress;
he cares for those who take refuge^(A) in him.
