8 “Now hear this, you wanton creature,
lounging with no cares,
and saying to herself:
‘I am the one, and there will be none besides me;
I won’t live as a widow,
nor will I see[a] the loss of children.’
9 Both of these things will overtake you
suddenly on a single day:
loss of children and widowhood.
They will come upon you in full measure,
despite the multitude of your incantations
and the great power of your spells.”

10 “You trusted in your own knowledge.[b]
You said, ‘No one sees me.’
Your wisdom and knowledge have misled you.
You said in your heart,
‘I am the one, and there will be none besides me.’

8 Busa karon pamatia kini, ikaw nga mahigugmaon sa kalipay ug nagahunahuna nga dili matarog. Nagaingon ka sa imong kaugalingon nga ikaw ang Dios, ug wala nay lain gawas kanimo. Nagahunahuna ka nga dili ka gayod mabalo o mawad-ag mga anak.[a] 9 Apan sa kalit lang, mahitabo kini kanimo. Mabalo ka ug mawad-ag mga anak. Mahitabo gayod kining tanan kanimo bisag daghan ka pag nahibaloang pagpamarang ug gamhanang mga lamat. 10 Nagsalig ka sa imong pagkadaotan, kay nagahunahuna ka nga walay nakakita kanimo. Ang imong kaalam ug kahibalo nagpahisalaag kanimo, ug nagtukmod kanimo sa pag-ingon, ‘Ako ang Dios, ug wala nay lain gawas kanako.’

8 “Now then, listen, you lover of pleasure,
lounging in your security(A)
and saying to yourself,
‘I am, and there is none besides me.(B)
I will never be a widow(C)
or suffer the loss of children.’
9 Both of these will overtake you
in a moment,(D) on a single day:
loss of children(E) and widowhood.(F)
They will come upon you in full measure,
in spite of your many sorceries(G)
and all your potent spells.(H)
10 You have trusted(I) in your wickedness
and have said, ‘No one sees me.’(J)
Your wisdom(K) and knowledge mislead(L) you
when you say to yourself,
‘I am, and there is none besides me.’
