Jeremiah 18:16-18

Christian Standard Bible

¹⁶They have made their land a horror,^(A)
a perpetual object of scorn;^[a]^(B)
all who pass by it will be appalled^(C)
and shake their heads.^(D)
¹⁷I will scatter them before the enemy like the east wind.^(E)
I will show them^[b] my back and not my face^(F)
on the day of their calamity.

Plot against Jeremiah

¹⁸Then certain ones said, “Come, let’s make plans against Jeremiah,^(G) for instruction will never be lost from the priest,^(H) or counsel from the wise, or a word from the prophet.^(I) Come, let’s denounce him^[c] and pay no attention to all his words.”
