⁷ I brought you to a fertile land^(A)
to eat its fruit and bounty,
but after you entered, you defiled my land;^(B)
you made my inheritance^(C) detestable.
⁸ The priests stopped asking, ‘Where is the Lord? ’
The experts in the law no longer knew me,^(D)
and the rulers^(E) rebelled against me.
The prophets prophesied by^[a] Baal^(F)
and followed useless idols.^(G)
