⁸ For whenever I speak, I cry out,
I proclaim, ‘Violence and destruction! ’^(A)
So the word of the Lord has become my
constant disgrace and derision.

¹⁰ The people are incapable of doing right^(A) –
this is the Lord’s declaration –
those who store up violence and destruction^(B)
in their citadels.

³ Why do you force me to look at injustice?^(A)
Why do you tolerate^[a] wrongdoing?
Oppression and violence are right in front of me.
Strife is ongoing, and conflict escalates.
