18 But if you do not surrender to the officials of the king of Babylon, then this city shall be handed over to the Chaldeans, and they shall burn it with fire, and you yourself shall not escape from their hand.”(A) 19 King Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, “I am afraid of the Judeans who have deserted to the Chaldeans, for I might be handed over to them, and they would abuse me.”(B) 20 Jeremiah said, “That will not happen. Just obey the voice of the Lord in what I say to you, and it shall go well with you, and your life shall be spared.(C)

18 But if you will not surrender to the officers of the king of Babylon, this city will be given into the hands(A) of the Babylonians and they will burn(B) it down; you yourself will not escape(C) from them.’”
19 King Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, “I am afraid(D) of the Jews who have gone over(E) to the Babylonians, for the Babylonians may hand me over to them and they will mistreat me.”
20 “They will not hand you over,” Jeremiah replied. “Obey(F) the Lord by doing what I tell you. Then it will go well(G) with you, and your life(H) will be spared.
