4 on account of the day that is coming
to destroy all the Philistines,
to cut off from Tyre and Sidon
every remaining ally.(A)
Indeed, the Lord is about to destroy the Philistines,
the remnant of the coastland of Caphtor.[a](B)
5 Baldness(C) is coming to Gaza;
Ashkelon will become silent.(D)
Remnant of their valley,
how long will you gash yourself?

15 “‘This is what the Lord God says: Because the Philistines acted in vengeance and took revenge with deep contempt,(A) destroying because of their perpetual hatred, 16 therefore this is what the Lord God says: I am about to stretch out my hand against the Philistines,(B) cutting off the Cherethites and wiping out what remains of the coastal peoples.[a](C) 17 I will execute severe vengeance against them with furious rebukes. They will know that I am the Lord(D) when I take my vengeance on them.’”
