³³ Hazor will become a jackals’ den,^(A)
a desolation for ever.
No one will live there;
no human being will stay in it even temporarily.^(B)

⁴⁰ Just as God demolished Sodom and Gomorrah
and their neighbouring towns^(A) –
this is the Lord’s declaration –
so no one will live there;
no human being will stay in it even temporarily
as a temporary resident.^(B)

⁹ Therefore, as I live –
this is the declaration of the Lord of Armies,
the God of Israel –
Moab will be like Sodom^(A)
and the Ammonites like Gomorrah:^(B)
a place overgrown with weeds,
a salt pit, and a perpetual wasteland.
The remnant of my people will plunder them;
the remainder of my nation will dispossess them.
