Job 5:8-16

⁸ “But I would inquire of God, and turn my talk to God,

⁹ “Who does great things, and unsearchable, marvelous things without number.

¹⁰ “He gives rain upon the earth, and pours water upon the streets,

¹¹ “and sets those who are low up on high, so that the sorrowful may be exalted to salvation.

¹² “He scatters the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot accomplish that which they undertake.

¹³ “He takes the wise in their craftiness. And the counsel of the wicked is made foolish.

¹⁴ “They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope at noon as in the night.

¹⁵ “But He saves the poor from the sword, from their mouth and from the hand of the violent man,

¹⁶ “so that the poor has hope. But iniquity shall shut her mouth.
