¹⁹ Jesus replied, ‘Truly I tell you, the Son is not able to do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father^[a] does, the Son likewise does these things.^(A)

¹⁶ Jesus answered them, ‘My teaching isn’t mine but is from the one who sent me.^(A)

²⁸ So Jesus said to them, ‘When you lift up the Son of Man,^(A) then you will know that I am^(B) he, and that I do nothing on my own.^(C) But just as the Father taught me, I say these things.

⁴⁹ For I have not spoken on my own, but the Father^(A) himself who sent me has given me a command to say everything I have said. ⁵⁰ I know that his command is eternal life.^(B) So the things that I speak, I speak just as the Father has told me.’^(C)
