John 5:37-43

³⁷ “And the Father who sent me
has himself testified about me.
You have not heard his voice
or seen his form,
³⁸ and you do not have his word
abiding in you,
because you do not believe
him whom he has sent.
³⁹ “Search the Scriptures carefully
because you believe that through them
you will gain eternal life.
Even they testify on my behalf.
⁴⁰ Yet you refuse to come to me
to receive that life.

⁴¹ “I do not accept the praise of men.
⁴² Moreover, I know that you do not have
the love of God in your hearts.
⁴³ I have come in the name of my Father,
yet you do not accept me.
But if another should come in his own name,
you will accept him.
