⁵³ So Jesus said to them, ‘Truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man^(A) and drink his blood,^(B) you do not have life in yourselves.

²⁸ Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock^(A) of which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as overseers,^(B) to shepherd the church of God,^[a] which he purchased with his own blood.^(C)

¹⁶ The cup^(A) of blessing^(B) that we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? The bread^(C) that we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ?

¹³ But now, in Christ Jesus, you who were far away have been brought near by the blood^(A) of Christ.

¹⁹ Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have boldness to enter the sanctuary through the blood of Jesus^(A) –
