⁴ And I said, ‘I have been banished^(A)
from your sight,^(B)
yet I will look^[a] once more
towards your holy temple.’^(C)
5 The water engulfed me up to the neck;^[b](D)
the watery depths overcame me;
seaweed was wrapped round my head.^(E)
6 I sank to the foundations of the mountains,^(F)
the earth’s gates shut behind me for ever!^(G)
Then you raised my life^(H) from the Pit, Lord my God!^(I)
