Joshua’s Farewell Address

23 A long time after the Lord had given Israel rest from all the enemies around them,^(A) Joshua was old, advanced in age.^(B)

¹¹ ever since the day I ordered judges to be over my people Israel.^(A) I will give you rest from all your enemies.

‘ “The Lord declares to you: The Lord himself will make a house for you.

⁵⁶ ‘Blessed be the Lord! He has given rest^(A) to his people Israel according to all he has said. Not one of all the good promises he made through his servant Moses has failed.^(B)

²⁵ For David said, ‘The Lord God of Israel has given rest to his people,^(A) and he has come to stay in Jerusalem for ever.
