2 And you shall do to Ai and its king as you did to (A)Jericho and its king. Only (B)its spoil and its cattle you shall take as booty for yourselves. Lay an ambush for the city behind it.”
3 So Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up against Ai; and Joshua chose thirty thousand mighty men of valor and sent them away by night. 4 And he commanded them, saying: “Behold, (C)you shall lie in ambush against the city, behind the city. Do not go very far from the city, but all of you be ready.

2 You shall do to Ai and its king as you did to Jericho and its king, except that you may carry off their plunder(A) and livestock for yourselves.(B) Set an ambush(C) behind the city.”
3 So Joshua and the whole army moved out to attack Ai. He chose thirty thousand of his best fighting men and sent them out at night 4 with these orders: “Listen carefully. You are to set an ambush behind the city. Don’t go very far from it. All of you be on the alert.
