²³ They went up, wept^(A) before the Lord until evening,^(B) and enquired of him, ‘Should we again attack our brothers the Benjaminites? ’

And the Lord answered, ‘Fight against them.’

²⁷ Then the Israelites enquired of the Lord. In those days, the ark of the covenant^(A) of God was there,

²² They again enquired of the Lord,^(A) ‘Has the man come here yet? ’

The Lord replied, ‘There he is, hidden among the supplies.’

² So David enquired of the Lord:^(A) ‘Should I launch an attack against these Philistines? ’

The Lord answered David, ‘Launch an attack against the Philistines and rescue Keilah.’

⁴ Once again, David enquired of the Lord, and the Lord answered him, ‘Go at once to Keilah, for I will hand the Philistines over to you.’^(A)

⁶ He enquired of the Lord, but the Lord did not answer him in dreams or by the Urim or by the prophets.^(A)
