¹⁵ ‘Do not act unjustly^(A) when deciding a case. Do not be partial^(B) to the poor or give preference to the rich;^(C) judge your neighbour fairly.

¹⁷ For the Lord your God is the God of gods^(A) and Lord of lords,^(B) the great, mighty, and awe-inspiring God, showing no partiality and taking no bribe.^(C)

¹⁶ So they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians.^(A) ‘Teacher,’ they said, ‘we know that you are truthful and teach truthfully the way of God. You don’t care what anyone thinks nor do you show partiality.^[a](B)

²¹ I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels to observe^(A) these things without prejudice, doing nothing out of favouritism.

The Sin of Favouritism

2 My brothers and sisters, do not show favouritism as you hold on to the faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ.^(A)

⁹ If, however, you show favouritism,^(A) you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
