⁴² You are to live in shelters^(A) for seven days. All the native-born of Israel must live in shelters, ⁴³ so that your generations may know that I made the Israelites live in shelters when I brought them out of the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God.’

¹¹ Uriah answered David, ‘The ark, Israel, and Judah are dwelling in tents, and my master Joab and his soldiers^[a] are camping in the open field. How can I enter my house to eat and drink and sleep with my wife? As surely as you live and by your life, I will not do this! ’^(A)
