10 Después de esto, el Señor escogió a otros setenta y dos[a] para enviarlos de dos en dos delante de él a todo pueblo y lugar adonde pensaba ir. 2 «Es abundante la cosecha —les dijo—, pero son pocos los obreros. Pedidle, por tanto, al Señor de la cosecha que mande obreros a su campo. 3 ¡Id vosotros! Sabed que os envío como corderos en medio de lobos. 4 No llevéis monedero ni bolsa ni sandalias; ni os detengáis a saludar a nadie por el camino.
5 »Cuando entréis en una casa, decid primero: “Paz a esta casa”. 6 Si hay allí alguien digno de paz, gozará de ella; y, si no, la bendición no se cumplirá.[b] 7 Quedaos en esa casa, y comed y bebed de lo que ellos tengan, porque el trabajador tiene derecho a su sueldo. No andéis de casa en casa.
8 »Cuando entréis en un pueblo y os reciban, comed lo que os sirvan. 9 Sanad a los enfermos que encontréis allí y decidles: “El reino de Dios ya está cerca de vosotros”. 10 Pero, cuando entréis en un pueblo donde no os reciban, salid a las plazas y decid: 11 “Aun el polvo de este pueblo, que se nos ha pegado a los pies, nos lo sacudimos en protesta contra vosotros. Pero tened por cierto que ya está cerca el reino de Dios”. 12 Os digo que en aquel día será más tolerable el castigo para Sodoma que para ese pueblo.
13 »¡Ay de ti, Corazín! ¡Ay de ti, Betsaida! Si se hubieran hecho en Tiro y en Sidón los milagros que se hicieron en medio de vosotras, ya hace tiempo que se habrían arrepentido con grandes lamentos.[c] 14 Pero en el juicio será más tolerable el castigo para Tiro y Sidón que para vosotras. 15 Y tú, Capernaún, ¿acaso serás levantada hasta el cielo? No, sino que descenderás hasta el abismo.
16 »El que os escucha a vosotros me escucha a mí; el que os rechaza a vosotros me rechaza a mí; y el que me rechaza a mí rechaza al que me envió».
17 Cuando los setenta y dos regresaron, dijeron contentos:
―Señor, hasta los demonios se nos someten en tu nombre.
18 ―Yo veía a Satanás caer del cielo como un rayo —respondió él—. 19 Sí, os he dado autoridad para pisotear serpientes y escorpiones y vencer todo el poder del enemigo; nada os podrá hacer daño. 20 Sin embargo, no os alegréis de que podáis someter a los espíritus, sino alegraos de que vuestros nombres están escritos en el cielo.
21 En aquel momento Jesús, lleno de alegría por el Espíritu Santo, dijo: «Te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque, habiendo escondido estas cosas de los sabios e instruidos, se las has revelado a los que son como niños. Sí, Padre, porque esa fue tu buena voluntad.
22 »Mi Padre me ha entregado todas las cosas. Nadie sabe quién es el Hijo, sino el Padre, y nadie sabe quién es el Padre, sino el Hijo y aquel a quien el Hijo quiera revelárselo».
23 Volviéndose a sus discípulos, les dijo aparte: «Dichosos los ojos que ven lo que vosotros veis. 24 Os digo que muchos profetas y reyes quisieron ver lo que vosotros veis, pero no lo vieron; y oír lo que vosotros oís, pero no lo oyeron».
Parábola del buen samaritano(D)
25 En esto se presentó un experto en la ley y, para poner a prueba a Jesús, le hizo esta pregunta:
―Maestro, ¿qué tengo que hacer para heredar la vida eterna?
26 Jesús replicó:
―¿Qué está escrito en la ley? ¿Cómo la interpretas tú?
27 Como respuesta, el hombre citó:
―“Ama al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con todo tu ser, con todas tus fuerzas y con toda tu mente”,[d] y: “Ama a tu prójimo como a ti mismo”.[e]
28 ―Bien contestado —le dijo Jesús—. Haz eso y vivirás.
29 Pero él quería justificarse, así que preguntó a Jesús:
―¿Y quién es mi prójimo?
30 Jesús respondió:
―Bajaba un hombre de Jerusalén a Jericó, y cayó en manos de unos ladrones. Le quitaron la ropa, lo golpearon y se fueron, dejándolo medio muerto. 31 Resulta que viajaba por el mismo camino un sacerdote, quien, al verlo, se desvió y siguió de largo. 32 Así también llegó a aquel lugar un levita y, al verlo, se desvió y siguió de largo. 33 Pero un samaritano que iba de viaje llegó adonde estaba el hombre y, viéndolo, se compadeció de él. 34 Se acercó, le curó las heridas con vino y aceite, y se las vendó. Luego lo montó sobre su propia cabalgadura, lo llevó a un alojamiento y lo cuidó. 35 Al día siguiente, sacó dos monedas de plata[f] y se las dio al dueño del alojamiento. “Cuida de él —le dijo—, y lo que gastes de más, te lo pagaré cuando vuelva”. 36 ¿Cuál de estos tres piensas que demostró ser el prójimo del que cayó en manos de los ladrones?
37 ―El que se compadeció de él —contestó el experto en la ley.
―Anda entonces y haz tú lo mismo —concluyó Jesús.
En casa de Marta y María
38 Mientras iba de camino con sus discípulos, Jesús entró en una aldea, y una mujer llamada Marta lo recibió en su casa. 39 Tenía ella una hermana llamada María que, sentada a los pies del Señor, escuchaba lo que él decía. 40 Marta, por su parte, se sentía abrumada porque tenía mucho que hacer. Así que se acercó a él y le dijo:
―Señor, ¿no te importa que mi hermana me haya dejado sirviendo sola? ¡Dile que me ayude!
41 ―Marta, Marta —le contestó Jesús—, estás inquieta y preocupada por muchas cosas, 42 pero solo una es necesaria.[g] María ha escogido la mejor, y nadie se la quitará.

Jesus Sends Out the Seventy-Two(A)(B)(C)
10 After this the Lord(D) appointed seventy-two[a] others(E) and sent them two by two(F) ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.(G) 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.(H) 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.(I) 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.
5 “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ 6 If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages.(J) Do not move around from house to house.
8 “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you.(K) 9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God(L) has come near to you.’ 10 But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, 11 ‘Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you.(M) Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God has come near.’(N) 12 I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom(O) than for that town.(P)
13 “Woe to you,(Q) Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth(R) and ashes. 14 But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. 15 And you, Capernaum,(S) will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades.[b]
16 “Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”(T)
17 The seventy-two(U) returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”(V)
18 He replied, “I saw Satan(W) fall like lightning from heaven.(X) 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes(Y) and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”(Z)
21 At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.(AA) Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
22 “All things have been committed to me by my Father.(AB) No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”(AC)
23 Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”(AD)
The Parable of the Good Samaritan(AE)
25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”(AF)
26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”
27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’[c];(AG) and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[d]”(AH)
28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”(AI)
29 But he wanted to justify himself,(AJ) so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.(AK) 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan,(AL) as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii[e] and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’
36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”
37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”
Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
At the Home of Martha and Mary
38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha(AM) opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary,(AN) who sat at the Lord’s feet(AO) listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care(AP) that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried(AQ) and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[f](AR) Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

10 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.
2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:
9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,
11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
12 But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.
13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.
15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.
16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.
17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.
23 And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:

37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
