6 And they were both (A)righteous in the sight of God, walking (B)blamelessly in all the commandments and righteous requirements of the [a]Lord. 7 But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both advanced in [b]years.
8 Now it happened that while (C)he was performing his priestly service before God in the order of his division, 9 according to the custom of the priestly office, he was chosen by lot (D)to enter the [c]sanctuary of the [d]Lord and burn incense. 10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying (E)outside at the hour of the incense offering. 11 And (F)an angel of the [e]Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the altar of incense.

6 Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly.(A) 7 But they were childless because Elizabeth was not able to conceive, and they were both very old.
8 Once when Zechariah’s division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God,(B) 9 he was chosen by lot,(C) according to the custom of the priesthood, to go into the temple of the Lord and burn incense.(D) 10 And when the time for the burning of incense came, all the assembled worshipers were praying outside.(E)
11 Then an angel(F) of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense.(G)

7 And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.
8 And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,
9 According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.
10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.
11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
