⁴⁷ and repentance for^[a] forgiveness of sins^(A) will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations,^(B) beginning at Jerusalem.^(C)

¹⁶ In past generations he allowed all the nations^(A) to go their own way,

²⁵ God presented him as the mercy seat^[a](A) by his blood,^(B) through faith, to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his restraint God^(C) passed over the sins previously committed.^(D)

¹¹ For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation^[a] for all people,^{(A) 12} instructing us to deny godlessness^(B) and worldly lusts^(C) and to live in a sensible, righteous,^(D) and godly^(E) way in the present age,

¹⁴ As obedient children,^(A) do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance.

³ For there has already been enough time spent in doing what the Gentiles choose to do: carrying on in unrestrained behaviour, evil desires,^(A) drunkenness, orgies,^(B) carousing, and lawless idolatry.
