⁴⁹ And look, I am sending you^[a] what my Father promised.^(A) As for you, stay in the city^[b] until you are empowered^[c](B) from on high.’

²⁶ But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit,^(A) whom the Father will send^(B) in my name, will teach you all things^(C) and remind you of everything I have told you.^(D)

The Counsellor’s Ministry

²⁶ ‘When the Counsellor^(A) comes, the one I will send to you from the Father^(B) #– #the Spirit of truth^(C) who proceeds from the Father – he will testify about me.

⁷ Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth.^(A) It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don’t go away the Counsellor will not come to you. If I go, I will send him to you.^(B)

2 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate^(A) with the Father – Jesus Christ the righteous one.

³³ Therefore, since he has been exalted to the right hand of God^(A) and has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit,^(B) he has poured out^(C) what you both see and hear.
