⁴⁴ ‘Let these words sink in:^[a] The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men.’^(A)

³² For he will be handed over to the Gentiles,^(A) and he will be mocked,^(B) insulted, spat^(C) on;

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our ancestors,^(A) has glorified his servant Jesus, whom you handed over and denied before Pilate,^(B) though he had decided to release him.

²⁷ Since the residents of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognise him or the sayings of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, they have fulfilled their words by condemning him.^{(A) 28} Though they found no grounds for the death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him killed.^(B)
